An opticians like no other, General Eyewear is also a design studio and luxury eyewear brand. The General Eyewear flagship store situated in the Chalk Farm area of Camden offers a curated selection of beautiful and unusual frames and sunglasses from 1750 to 1995 in a Victorian railway arch which exudes the authority of a museum with the atmosphere of a Jean-Jacques Beineix movie.
The on site design studio realises refined and technically advanced commissions for private clients and for companies involved in the creative industries. These designs are realised by master spectacle makers working in England using General Eyewear's unique supplies of vintage Italian acetate.
General Eyewear also produces the Inner and Outer Space series of limited edition frames and sunglasses which are available to buy in store and also at Discover Boutiques (see link below.)
General Eyewear's Film Division draws on all the above resources as well as an extensive archive of prototypes, historical catwalk pieces, hundreds of goggles, visors etc in order to fulfill the needs of the most exacting costume designer. A multitude of production credits includes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Prometheus.
